EGDF General Assembly 2017 to take place at Reboot Develop

Stockholm, April 13, 2017 – The European Games Developer Federation (EGDF) today announced that their annual General Assembly will take place at Reboot Develop conference in Dubrovnik, Croatia. The EGDF is the voice of European game developers in politics. With more than ten years of experience and uniting over 1,600 studios through its member associations, it promotes the cause of the entire industry as a whole. In order to further improve this representation, the EGDF is taking action to deepen its engagement with Eastern European games industry trade associations.
Entering its fourth year, Reboot Develop has quickly established itself as a key European event for the games industry, hosting one of the biggest meetings of professionals from all over the world from April 20-22, 2017. The rapidly rising importance of the event has also been acknowledged by the European games industry trade associations, who are sending out more representatives each year.

This year, the EGDF joins the conference and will hold its General Assembly on-site. The Assembly unites all member associations to build a joint vision, reshaping the future of the European digital single market area. The debate will cover the future of EU funding instruments for games, possible regulations on platforms and changes needed in the European consumer protection and copyright frameworks. Additionally new members will be welcomed to the organisation and the agenda will stay responsive as current events unfold.

The topic of funding for games will be explored further in a complimentary workshop on the topic of state aid instruments organised by the EGDF. With the threat of budget cuts on the European level on the horizon, national solutions must be found swiftly. The goal of the workshop is to accelerate this process. Participants will map the situation of state aid instruments being drawn up in Europe presently and share knowledge on building state aid schemes for the games industry as well as experiences in lobbying the issue:

  • What kind state aid instruments are you currently pushing on the national level?
  • What next steps are you planning to take in the process?

Admission to this roundtable is limited and an application is required in advance. For submission of your application or further information, please contact: Jari-Pekka Kaleva, jari-pekka.kaleva@egdf.eu
